REVIEW - Pixi Flawless Vitamin Veil in shade No. 1 "Fair"

This is actually one of my favourite foundations. It claims on their website

“This formula miraculously evens out skintone and makes it look like you have no foundation on. It also treats your skin to a host of vitamins, minerals and skin-enhancing goodies. It plumps lines, hydrates, nourishes and protects while perfecting skin. Hypoallergenic. Fragrance free. Suits all skin types.”

It’s a really smooth creamy foundation that goes on well, is easily blendable and has a decent medium coverage. It has a really good natural finish that doesn’t dry out my skin (hooray!) but I’m not sure how well it would work with oily skin. For me, with my super dry skin, it lasts well for about 3-4 hours, and with the right primer/powder and touch ups in the day it will last 6-8 hours. As with all the Pixi range, I love the packaging, it’s super girly and easy to carry around in your bag. There’s a mirror and a compartment for the sponge. You can see in the packaging in the photos below (mine looks a little battered, I know, :P)  I use the shade ”No. 1 Fair” which admittedly looks a little yellow in the box but it blends surprisingly well and I think is one of the best colour matches out of my collection. (please remember that in photographs the colours are not always true to life so to get a real idea of the shade please visit the store)  I particularly love that you don’t need to spend hours blending it in, it’s one of those quick products you can use in a hurry and know you’ll look good. I tend to use this mostly in the summer when I don’t want to fuss around with a lot of makeup, or if I’m going on holiday somewhere and don’t want to take huge amounts of cosmetics with me.

However, there are some things I don’t like. Mostly the price. It currently retails at £20.50 in the UK, pushing it towards the premium end of the spectrum, which would be fine because I do really like it as a foundation, however you only get a measly 10g (3.5 oz) of product. I know it’s a cream foundation, but even still 10g is not much and for the price I would expect a lot more. I had barely used this product more than 3 or 4 times before I started to see the bottom of the box. This means I’ve not used it as much as I would have liked to because I would say it simply is too expensive as an everyday foundation.

If you are searching for a great yellow-based pale foundation and fancy a treat or want to splash out, I would say this is a great one to go for. It really is one of my favourites but simply due to the cost, I don’t know whether I would re-purchase this.

Thanks for reading. Feel free to add any comments :)
